4-Acetyl-4-methylcyclohexan-1-one is an enamine that is a useful intermediate for the synthesis of acryloyl chloride. The reaction of 4-acetyl-4-methylcyclohexanone with chloromethane produces 4,4'-dichlorobenzophenone and the corresponding amine. This amine can then be reacted with morpholine or pyrrolidine to produce 4-acetylmorpholine or 4-(2,6,6-trimethylpiperidinium) pyrrolidine.
