2,4,6-Triphenylaniline is a type of aniline that is used as a preparative chemical in the synthesis of other chemicals. It has been shown to have antidiabetic properties in animal models. The mechanism of action may be due to its ability to inhibit glycolytic enzymes and β-oxidation. 2,4,6-Triphenylaniline has not yet been tested for its potential to treat diabetes in humans. This drug inhibits the reaction rate of glucose with pancreatic lipase and decreases the release of sugar into the bloodstream.
2,4,6-Triphenylaniline also has an acidic property that can cause stomach irritation or ulcers if taken orally.
