N-Methoxy-N-methylbenzamide
Synonyms:
  • Benzamide, N-methoxy-N-methyl-
  • N-Benzoyl-N-methyl-O-methylhydroxylamine
  • N-Methoxy-N-methylbenzenecarboxamide
  • N-Methyl-N-methoxybenzamide
Description:

N-Methoxy-N-methylbenzamide is an amide that has been synthesized and characterized. It is a hydrogen bonding compound with the ability to form stable complexes with boron trifluoride etherate. This complex can be used as a reagent for the synthesis of quinoxalines from carbocations, which are formed by the reaction of trifluoroacetic acid with amides. The synthesis of N-Methoxy-N-methylbenzamide has been shown to be an efficient method for the production of quinoxalines. N-Methoxy-N-methylbenzamide has also been found to have anticancer activity, which may be due to its absorption in the UV region.
