Product Information

Name:
2-Methoxyquinoline
Synonyms:
  • Methoxyquinoline
  • Quinoline, 2-methoxy-
Description:

2-Methoxyquinoline is an aromatic hydrocarbon that has potent antibacterial activity. It inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the hydroxyl group of the enzyme 5-ht4 receptor, which is involved in various biological processes (e.g., immune system, wound healing). 2-Methoxyquinoline also has a strong inhibitory effect on diphenyl ether, a chemical used in some industrial processes and as a solvent.
2-Methoxyquinoline prevents the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting copper complex formation, one of the most important steps in DNA synthesis. This drug also blocks the production of growth factors, which are substances that stimulate cell proliferation and differentiation.
