1,3-Bis(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)thiourea (1,3-BPYMT) is a coordination compound that contains a chloro group and is able to coordinate anions. It has been shown to form coordination complexes with chloride ions. The crystal structure of 1,3-BPYMT was determined using X-ray diffraction techniques and quantum chemical calculations. The conformation of the molecule was found to be dependent on the environment in which it was placed. This is due to the symmetrical nature of the molecule and its flexibility.
