1-(1H-Imidazol-4-yl)propan-2-amine is an antagonist of the histamine H3 receptor. It has been shown to inhibit histamine release from nerve endings and reduce the activity of the cholinergic system in vitro. This drug also inhibits neurokinin 1 receptor, which mediates inflammatory effects, as well as carcinine release from nerve endings. 1-(1H-Imidazol-4-yl)propan-2-amine has been shown to have a variety of neurochemical effects in vivo and it may be useful in the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders.
