3-Chloro-N-(propan-2-yl)aniline is a toxic chemical that has been used as a pesticide and an intermediate in the synthesis of carbamic acid. It reacts with water to produce toxic and corrosive gases, such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen chloride, and phosgene. 3-Chloro-N-(propan-2-yl)aniline is also an intermediate in the synthesis of carbamates, chlorpropham, and other pesticides. This chemical has been shown to inhibit cholinesterase activity in some experiments. 3-Chloro-N-(propan-2-yl)aniline also causes carcinogenic effects when it reacts with methanolic or isopropanol solutions at elevated temperatures.
