Product Information
2-Chloro-1-octene is a phosphite that has been used in the synthesis of ketones, alcohols, and terminal alkynes. It can also be used as a catalyst for the condensation of two carbonyl compounds to form an acetal. 2-Chloro-1-octene can be used in the synthesis of terminal alkynes by the reaction with an iridium complex and an aldol. The iridium complex first reacts with one of the carbonyl groups to form a hemiacetal, which reacts with another carbonyl compound to form an acetal. The reactions produce terminal alkynes by reacting with hydrogen gas.
