Product Information
6-Methyl-2-tetralone is a carcinogen that can be found in cigarette smoke. It has been shown to induce liver lesions and tumors in animals. 6-Methyl-2-tetralone binds covalently to DNA, forming adducts that inhibit the replication of DNA, leading to cytotoxicity. This compound also inhibits the synthesis of proteins by binding to ribosomal RNA, which may contribute to its carcinogenic activity.
