2-Fluoro-4-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)benzoic acid (FTBA) is an activated form of benzene that can be used in experiments to study the efficiency of industrial processes. FTBA is a structural isomer of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT). The two compounds have similar chemical properties and react similarly to various adsorbates. FTBA is an efficient molecule for use in adsorption studies due to its tetrazolyl group, which has a large surface area. It was shown that FTBA adsorbs more strongly than TNT on hydrocarbon frameworks. This property makes it useful for studying the adsorption of other molecules with similar structures and topology as TNT.
