Product Information
3-(3-Methoxyphenyl)acrylaldehyde (3MPAA) is a natural compound that has been shown to have anti-cancer properties. 3MPAA activates the peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma (PPARγ), which is involved in the regulation of lipid and glucose metabolism. 3MPAA also has inhibitory activities against a number of enzymes, including fatty acid synthase, phospholipase A2, and cyclooxygenase-2. In vitro assays have demonstrated that 3MPAA inhibits the growth of kidney cells and insulin sensitivity in mice. The industrial preparation of 3MPAA is obtained by the reaction of hydrochloric acid with methyl acrylate, followed by purification by distillation and recrystallization from water or ethanol. The synthesis of 3MPA can be achieved by reacting 4-hydroxy-3-methoxycinnamaldehyde with an aldehyde in the presence of sodium hyd
