Product Information

Name:
3-methyl-3-phenylpyrrolidine
Description:

3-Methyl-3-phenylpyrrolidine is a pharmacological lactam with nicotinic acetylcholine activity. It has been shown to be active in the treatment of epilepsy in rats, which may be due to its ability to bind to and activate neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. The crystal structure of 3-methyl-3-phenylpyrrolidine has been determined and shows that this molecule can connect with two receptor sites on the acetylcholine receptor. This suggests that 3-methyl-3-phenylpyrrolidine is able to act as an agonist at both sites on the receptor and may have a greater inhibitory effect on neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors than other drugs currently available for the treatment of epilepsy.
