Product Information

- Methyl 4-Methylpiperazine-2-Carboxylate
Methyl 4-Methylpiperazine-2-carboxylate (4MP) is a neurotrophic factor that has been shown to have neurotrophic activity in vitro and in vivo. It has been shown to activate microglial cells, which are involved in the inflammatory response of the central nervous system. 4MP has been shown to increase levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor, as well as IL-1β and IL-6. This compound is also able to reduce the amount of β-amyloid plaques by inducing the degradation of this protein. The mechanism for this effect has not yet been elucidated, but it may be due to its ability to bind Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). 4MP is also capable of reducing depressive symptoms in mice through its effects on TLR4 signalling pathways.
