Methyl 3-amino-5-(3-phenyl-5-isoxazyl)thiophene-2-carboxylate is a monomer that contains a carboxylate group. This compound is used as a component in detergent compositions and is also used to treat bladder disorders. Methyl 3-amino-5-(3-phenyl-5-isoxazyl)thiophene-2-carboxylate has been shown to have antihypertensive activity, which may be due to its function as an inhibitor of the enzyme nitric oxide synthase. The hydroxyl group on this compound also contributes to its antibacterial properties against gram negative bacteria.
