Description:
1-Bromo-2,3,4-trichlorobenzene is a halide monomer that reacts with polystyrene to produce the polymer. It is primarily used as an acid fulfiller in the manufacture of polystyrene. The reaction product of 1-bromo-2,3,4-trichlorobenzene with propylene oxide and peroxide can be used for the production of polymers for injection molding. This monomer has predominately acidic properties due to its ability to release hydrogen chloride gas when dissolved in water. The addition of magnesium oxide to this reaction product enhances the polymerization process by neutralizing the acidity of 1-bromo-2,3,4-trichlorobenzene.
