Product Information
- 1H-Pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid, 3-methyl-1-phenyl-, ethyl ester
Ethyl 3-methyl-1-phenylpyrazole-5-carboxylate (EMPC) is an inhibitor of bacterial growth. EMPC binds to the active site of the enzyme DNA gyrase, which is needed for bacterial replication and cell division. This binding prevents the hydrolysis of ATP to ADP, resulting in a decrease in energy production. EMPC has been shown to be effective against aureus strains that are resistant to other antibiotics. It also inhibits the growth of staphylococcus strains that produce pyrazole-4-carboxamide, which results in a significant decrease in bacterial production and may be useful for treating infections caused by these bacteria.
