Product Information
(4-hydroxymethylphenyl)(phenyl)methanone is a fluorescent chemosensor that can be used to detect the presence of chloride ions. It has been shown to interact with thionyl chloride, aldehydes, and tetrahydrofuran. The reaction vessel is filled with aldehyde and tetrahydrofuran, which are then purged of oxygen by bubbling nitrogen through it. The fluorescence changes as the chloride ion concentration increases.
