Ethyl 3-amino-6-(trifluoromethyl)benzofuran-2-carboxylate (ETAB) is a chemical pesticide with antitumor properties. ETAB has been shown to inhibit the growth of human tumor cells in vitro. It has also been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect on IL-10, a cytokine associated with cancer suppression. ETAB was also found to be effective against C. glabrata, and showed no toxicity in rats or mice when administered orally. The optimum concentration for ETAB is 5 μM in vitro assays and 10 μM in vivo studies, but the exact concentration required for efficacy has not yet been determined due to the lack of data on the compound's cytotoxicity.
