Description:
2-Chloro-1-(3-chloro-phenyl)-ethanol is a solvent that is used in organic synthesis. It is a colorless liquid with a slight odor. 2-Chloro-1-(3-chloro-phenyl)-ethanol has been shown to react efficiently with valine, proline, arginine, glycine, leucine and other amino acids. 2-Chloro-1-(3-chloro-phenyl)-ethanol has also been shown to be an efficient reductant for the reduction of chloride ions to hydrogen gas via the following reaction: Cl2 + 2H+ + 2e− → HCl + H2 (g).
