Description:

1,2-Bis(di(pyridin-2-yl)phosphino)ethane (BDPCPE) is an organophosphorus compound that inhibits the synthesis of nitrate reductase, an enzyme involved in the conversion of nitrate to nitrite. Nitrate reductase is important for cell division and tumor growth. BDPCPE has been shown to have antitumour properties in a number of cancer models, and has also been shown to inhibit the proliferation of tumourigenic cells. The conformation and structural studies on BDPCPE have shown it to be centrosymmetric with a puckered five-membered ring.
