Product Information
- Pyridine, 2-methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)-
2-Methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine is an organic solvent that can be used as an initiator for polymerization reactions. 2-Methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine is also used in the industrial production of polychloroprene, which is a type of synthetic rubber. 2-methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine reacts with benzotriazole to produce a radical intermediate, which then reacts with succinimide to form the desired product. The reaction time and selectivity are dependent on the concentration of 2-methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine. This reagent can also be used in large scale production methods due to its high reactivity and solubility in most solvents.
