3-Bromo-9-(p-tolyl)-9H-carbazole is a new type of light emitting material and can be used in devices. 3-Bromo-9-(p-tolyl)-9H-carbazole was synthesized by the reaction between 9,10-dibromoanthracene and 2,3,5,6-tetramethylaniline. The compound emits light in the visible region when excited by an external source and has a multilayer structure. FTIR spectra show that it has nitrogen atoms and elemental analysis confirms its molecular formula. The crystal XRD pattern shows that it is mononuclear with a ligand.
