Cercosporamide is a natural compound that has been shown to have a hypoglycemic effect in mice. It also has potential as a drug target for the treatment of liver diseases, such as hepatitis C and cancer. Cercosporamide induces cell lysis in liver cells by disrupting their membranes, which may be due to its inhibition of protein synthesis. In addition, cercosporamide has been shown to induce cell death in k562 cells and to inhibit the growth of resistant mutants from usnic acid-resistant strains of ETOA-producing bacteria. The effects of cercosporamide on hl-60 cells are unclear, but it does not seem to have any significant effects on these cells.
