Ribocil is synthesized by reacting the pharmaceutical drug clofazimine with the natural product riboflavin. Ribocil has been shown to exhibit antibacterial activity against gram-negative bacteria in laboratory tests. The ribocil molecule has been sequenced and characterized, and its molecular structure may be used as a template for designing new molecules. Ribocil also modulates regulatory pathways in bacteria.
