Product Information
Poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (P3HT) is a polythiophene derivative that has been extensively studied as a gas sensor. It is sensitive to many different gases and can be used to monitor the concentration of these gases in air. P3HT has an enhanced response to thermal expansion, which may be due to the diphenyl ether groups on its backbone, and it undergoes irreversible oxidation in the presence of cationic surfactants. This polymer is also sensitive to magnetic resonance spectroscopy and shows a morphology that changes with chemical reactions. P3HT is soluble in hydrochloric acid but not water and has a transfer mechanism that involves electron transfer from one side of the polymer chain to another.
