Description

(3S)-3-(2-Amino-2-oxoethyl)-5-methylhexanoic acid is an alkali compound that can be used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It is a racemization agent that can be used to convert a racemic mixture into its corresponding enantiomeric form. (3S)-3-(2-Amino-2-oxoethyl)-5-methylhexanoic acid is also cost effective and efficient. It has been shown that it can be hydrolyzed by refluxing this compound with toluene and hydrochloric acid, yielding the corresponding carboxylic acid. The conversion of glutarimide into piperidine with this reagent has also been demonstrated.
