Product Information
3-P-Tolyl-isoxazol-5-yl)-methanol (3PTM) is a heterocyclic compound that has been shown to have antibacterial activity. It has been found to be active against Staphylococcus aureus and human glioblastoma cells. 3PTM binds to the translocator protein, which is involved in the transport of molecules across the mitochondrial membrane, preventing the export of malonate from mitochondria and leading to cell death. The affinity of 3PTM for this protein is greater than its affinity for other proteins, such as cytochrome c oxidase. 3PTM has also been shown to inhibit carboxy as well as oxadiazole. This inhibition may be due to its ability to bind with high affinity to these target proteins.
