Description:
5-bromo-1H-pyrrole-3-carbaldehyde is a phthalocyanine macrocycle that has been shown to be an excellent substrate for the synthesis of hydroporphyrins. This compound is systematically converted into brominated and chlorinated derivatives by treatment with elemental bromine or chlorine gas in the presence of a base. The cyclization reaction yields 2,6,10,14,18,22 tetrapyrroles. 5-Bromo-1H-pyrrole-3-carbaldehyde was synthesized from pyrrole and carbonyl bromide.
