Product Information

Name:
(2,2,2-Trifluoroethyl)hydrazine hydrochloride
Description:

Hydrazine is a chemical compound with the formula N2H4. It is a colorless volatile liquid that has a characteristic ammonia-like odor. Hydrazine is an important inorganic base and is used in many industrial processes as well as in the synthesis of other chemicals. Hydrazine is also a potent alkylating agent, which can cause severe damage to DNA and proteins. The fluorine atom in (2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)hydrazine hydrochloride minimizes tissue damage by reducing the production of prostaglandin endoperoxide (PGE) and inhibiting cyclooxygenase I and II (COX-1 and COX-2). This drug can be used as a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug to reduce inflammation.
