Product Information
Tetrahydropyridine-3-carboxamide is a molecule that belongs to the class of iminium compounds. It is a dehydrogenase that catalyzes the reduction of aldehydes and ketones to their corresponding alcohols. Tetrahydropyridine-3-carboxamide reduces 1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyridines by nucleophilic attack on the iminium ion. The enzyme belongs to the type II membrane proteins and has an optimum pH at 6.5. Tetrahydropyridine-3-carboxamide is expressed in glutamate dehydrogenase and its subunits are α, β, γ, δ, ɛ. Tetrahydropyridine-3-carboxamide forms ternary complexes with glutamate and NADP+. This enzyme can be inhibited by acidic substances such as acetic acid or potassium acetate.
