Aluminum monostearate is a phase-transition thermometer that has been used for analytical purposes. The melting point of this substance is at about 54 °C and the boiling point is at about 165 °C. It can be used to determine the concentration of calcium in a solution by using an acid hydrolysis procedure. Aluminum monostearate can also be used in drug interactions with other drugs and target enzymes such as CYP2D6. This substance also has medicinal properties and is used in the treatment of bone cancer, stearic acid, and stearates. The use of aluminum monostearate has been studied extensively in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) as a model system for zirconium oxide.
