Description:
2-Chloro-1,3-dimethoxybenzene is a chloride of dimethyltin that is analogous to potassium dichloride. It is used in the synthesis of organosilanes. It reacts with methanol and butyllithium to form 2-chloromethyl-1,3-dimethoxybenzene. This compound reacts with sulfide to form dibenzothiophene, which can then be chlorinated to form 3,4-dichloroquinoline. The reaction conditions are not sensitive to oxidation by air.
