Product Information
Ethyl 3-(4-nitrophenyl)propanoate is an aromatic compound belonging to the group of ethyl cinnamates. It has been shown to have insecticidal properties, and is an antifeedant. Ethyl 3-(4-nitrophenyl)propanoate inhibits the growth of weevils by inhibiting their ability to synthesize phenylpropanoids, which are precursors for the synthesis of other compounds that are important for cellular metabolism. This property may be due to its ability to inhibit stepwise monosubstituted reactions and to react with methyl groups. The physicochemical parameters of this compound include a boiling point of 212°C at atmospheric pressure, a molecular weight of 178.3 g/mol, and a density of 1.06 g/cm3 at 20°C.
