6-(4-Bromophenyl)imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole is an antituberculosis drug that belongs to the class of hydrazides. It has been shown to be active against tuberculosis and other bacterial infections. 6-(4-Bromophenyl)imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole is a potent inhibitor of mycobacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. This activity leads to the death of bacteria by inhibiting protein synthesis, which is vital for cell division. Optical spectroscopic data show that the protonated form of 6-(4-bromophenyl)imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole is yellow, while its neutral form is orange.
