Heptacosane acid is an acetate extract from palm kernel oil. It has been shown to have good activity against human pathogens, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The fatty acid in heptacosanoic acid is caproic acid, which has been shown to have a particle size of less than 10 microns. Heptacosanoic acid also has the ability to form hydrogen bonds in the presence of water, making it a good film-forming polymer. This compound also has an activity index of 0.8, making it an excellent biodiesel additive that neutralizes dehydroascorbic acid.
