(2E,4E)-2,4-Decadienoic acid ethyl ester is an ethyl ester of (2E,4E)-2,4-decadienoic acid. It is a mixture of two geometric isomers with differing reactivity. The kinetic data for this compound were determined by measuring the rate of hydrolysis at pH 7 and pH 9. The enzyme preparation used was purified lipase from Candida antarctica. The reaction yield was determined by calculating the mass of 2-trans-octadecenoic acid methyl ester produced per gram of lipase over time. The experimental results showed that the reaction yield increased as the concentration of silver ions increased.
