Description:
Bis(thiophen-3-yl)ethane-1,2-dione is an optical monomer that is used to synthesize homochiral polymers. Bis(thiophen-3-yl)ethane-1,2-dione has been shown to interact with the homopolymer in a solubilising manner. This monomer can be protonated and catalysed by palladium, leading to high yields of bis(thiophen-3-yl)ethane-1,2-dione. Bis(thiophen-3-yl)ethane-1,2-dione is also used as a reagent for the synthesis of cyclic imines.
