8-Amino-quinolin-6-ol is an antimalarial agent that belongs to the class of aminoquinoline. It has been shown to have a spectrum of activity against Plasmodium falciparum and other strains of malaria. 8-Amino-quinolin-6-ol has been shown to inhibit the growth of malaria parasites in culture by interfering with the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and proteins. The mechanism for this inhibition is not fully understood, but it may be due to interference with nucleic acid synthesis or interference with protein synthesis.
