Product Information
- Anthracene, 9-(2-naphthalenyl)-
9-(2-Naphthyl)anthracene is a fluorescent imidazole derivative that undergoes bond cleavage upon exposure to light. The mechanism of this reaction involves the formation of an excited state which leads to the photodimerization of 9-(2-naphthyl)anthracene and the subsequent formation of a carbocation. This carbocation can then react with an electron-rich center, such as anthracene, to form a new cationic intermediate. The efficiency of this reaction is dependent on the temperature and the concentration of 9-(2-naphthyl)anthracene in the solution.
