Description

1,4-Bis(4,5-dihydro-2-oxazolyl)benzene is a ligand. It has been postulated that this reaction proceeds through a cationic intermediate which is stabilized by hydrogen bonding interactions with the anions and amines. The reaction mechanism can be divided into two steps: first the nitrate ion attacks the double bond to form a nitronate anion, and then the nitronate anion reacts with the amine to produce the product. The kinetic studies show that the rate of this reaction depends on the concentration of both ligand and substrate.
