Product Information
- 2-(Methylmercapto)naphthalene
- 2-(Methylsulfanyl)Naphthalene
The compound 2-(methylthio)naphthalene is an aromatic compound that exhibits biological properties such as a cellular inhibitor, cytochrome p-450, and helical structure. It also has the ability to be photocatalytic. 2-(Methylthio)naphthalene is used in the synthesis of sulfoxides, which are organic compounds with sulfur or oxygen in the place of one or more hydrogens. The sulfoxide group can be oxidized by hydrogen peroxide to form a sulfone group. This process is catalyzed by palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions.
2-(Methylthio)naphthalene is also used in asymmetric synthesis for the construction of organic molecules with chiral carbon centers and functional groups. It can undergo a palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction to construct these compounds.
