Product Information
Benzenecarboximidic Acid Methyl Ester is a quinoline derivative that has been shown to have antimicrobial activity. It binds to the receptor site on the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria, causing a change in permeability, leakage of intracellular constituents, and death. The compound has been shown to be effective against strains of Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from biological samples. Benzenecarboximidic Acid Methyl Ester has also been shown to decrease lipoprotein lipase activity and increase nitrogen atoms in cells. This product is not active against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pneumoniae. Benzenecarboximidic Acid Methyl Ester does not require acid analysis for identification and produces reaction products that are chemically amides.
