Ethyl 2,2-diethoxypropanoate is a chemical compound that is detectable in maternal serum and has been shown to affect serum prolactin levels. It has been evaluated for use in pediatric patients and may be used for pain control or as an antipsychotic agent. The drug has been shown to inhibit the activity of the enzyme methimazole and can potentially be used to treat hyperprolactinemia in women with breast cancer. Ethyl 2,2-diethoxypropanoate is not metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes and does not have any known interactions with other drugs.
