It is a fatty acid that can be found in the muscle tissue of humans and animals. 2,6-Dimethylheptanoic acid is a component of the oxidation of fatty acids by dehydrogenase enzymes. This chemical also has magnetic properties. 2,6-Dimethylheptanoic acid is highly soluble in liquid chromatography and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. This chemical has an even number of carbon atoms with a chain length of 18 or 20 carbons long. The molecule contains two methyl groups at positions 6 and 12 on the tetradecanoic chain. The dodecanoic chain fatty acids are very similar to this compound, but they contain one less carbon atom at position 12 on the tetradecanoic chain.
