Product Information
- 4-methoxy-1-methyl-1H-indole
4-Methoxy-1-methyl-1H-indole (4MM) is a programmed cell death inducer that has been used to study the role of apoptosis in tissue development and regeneration. The 4MM molecule binds to DNA, forming dimers with adjacent bases on the same strand. This binding causes the DNA molecule to form a kink and prevents its replication, leading to cell death. 4MM has also been shown to be an effective inhibitor of protein synthesis in vitro at high concentrations. Pharmacokinetic studies have demonstrated that 4MMI is rapidly absorbed into circulation following intravenous administration and eliminated within 24 hours. This drug has been shown to be well tolerated in animals, with no observable adverse effects on body weight or behavior.
