Product Information
- Quinazoline, 6-methyl-
6-Methylquinazoline is a chaperone molecule that has been reported to inhibit the cancer cell growth. It binds to the DNA and induces the synthesis of small RNAs, which are involved in regulating gene expression. In addition, 6-methylquinazoline prevents aberrant splicing of messenger RNA (mRNA) transcripts, leading to cancer cell death by apoptosis. The molecular modeling study of 6-methylquinazoline has shown that this molecule can bind to the ATP-binding site of human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) and inhibit its activity. This may be due to the similarity between 6-methylquinazolin and tanespimycin, a natural product from Streptomyces sp. that also inhibits hTERT.
