Product Information

Name:
2-Oxo-4-phenyl-2,5-dihydro-3-furancarbonitrile
Synonyms:
  • 3-Furancarbonitrile, 2,5-Dihydro-2-Oxo-4-Phenyl-
Description:

2-Oxo-4-phenyl-2,5-dihydro-3-furancarbonitrile is a novel chemokine that has been isolated from the bark of the plant
Pseudolarix kaempferi. The molecule is a potent attractant for neutrophils, monocytes and other inflammatory cells. It has shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to their surface receptors and preventing them from interacting with host cells. It also inhibits bacterial uptake by competing with phosphoenolpyruvate for binding sites on the bacterial cell membrane, leading to reduced growth kinetics. 2-Oxo-4-phenyl-2,5-dihydro-3-furancarbonitrile may be useful in the treatment of chronic inflammation and infection.
