Vinylphenyldichlorosilane is a nonpolar solvent that has the general formula of CH2=CH-SiCl2. It is used in coatings, adhesives, and sealants. Vinylphenyldichlorosilane has a hydroxy group, which can react with other functional groups such as alkynyl group or hydroxyl group. This molecule also contains a phenyl group, which consists of an aromatic hydrocarbon ring with one hydrogen atom on each side of the benzene ring. The phenyl group is substituted by two chlorine atoms to form vinylphenyldichlorosilane. Vinylphenyldichlorosilane is soluble in organic solvents and reacts with light to produce emission at uv wavelengths. This molecule has been studied using electrochemical methods to determine its molecule geometry and electronic properties.
