Tin(II)fluoride is a halogen that has been shown to have antibacterial efficacy against Gram-positive bacteria. Tin(II)fluoride binds to specific receptors on the cell surface, which inhibit dopamine release and reduce fat cell size. The biological properties of tin(II)fluoride are not well understood, but it has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity in rats and inhibit cancer growth in mice. Tin(II)fluoride also inhibits the production of endogenous adenosine, which may have an effect on locomotor activity and brain function. The diameter of tin(II)fluoride is 2.6 Å and it contains 2 nitrogen atoms and 2 chlorine atoms.
