Product Information
- Silane, (1-chloroethyl)trimethyl-
- α-Chloroethyltrimethylsilane
(1-Chloroethyl)trimethylsilane is an electrophilic compound that reacts with nucleophiles. It competes with carbamates and alkylating agents for the same electrophilic site. This reactivity is primarily due to its electron withdrawing chlorine substituent. Reaction of (1-chloroethyl)trimethylsilane with tert-butyl carbamate gives the product tert-butyl carbamate, which is then reacted with ammonia or amines to give substituted amides or urea respectively.
